Introduction
With the booming development of the internet today, everyone inevitably has multiple online accounts, but incidents of account hijacking are not uncommon. Facing increasingly sophisticated and pervasive hackers, account security has become a crucial issue for governments, businesses, and individuals. Therefore, the FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance, established in 2012, is dedicated to creating an open standard that utilizes public-private key encryption and biometric authentication to achieve secure and fast login experiences.
FIDO is considered more secure primarily because it eliminates the need for servers to store passwords, thereby eliminating the risk of password theft. Instead, it employs a public-private key infrastructure, where the private key is securely held by the user while the system retains only the public key. This approach aligns with the FIDO standard and signifies a move towards a true passwordless authentication method.
